Pug Style.

This guy, Douglas, is from one of my favorite blogs, Johannes Pescatore from radarzine.com, a Scandinavian site.  So far, I most admire the style in Sweden, the people are so flat out gorgeous, all of them.  As for Douglas, he’s probably the most stylish dog, walking the streets of Stockholm.

anti-Anne Geddes

I’m not a fan of Anne Geddes. You know, the cheesy photography of babies wrapped up in flowers, dressed like animals, etc., usually on display at the pediatrician’s office. Yes, you know what I’m talking about. I’ve never cared for them. HOWEVER, i came across a seller on Etsy (deusprovidebit) who designs newborn winter hats and this baby (or babies?) she used as a model is absolutely adorable.  It reminded me of the Anne Geddes photography, but way cuter and not tacky. Enjoy!

So cute, in fact, that I can’t really stand it. I hope my baby looks like these.

Brandon Holley

Awesome article about Brandon Holley- http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/18/fashion/18holley.html

She was the founder of ElleGirl and the editor of Jane before it went kaput, but this media-savvy mogul has found a new calling: Shine, the women’s online magazine.

thoughts on Vogue

I’m a fan of ELLEVogueNylonMarie Claire, and W.  They all appeal to me in different ways. I preferELLE over all the others because I feel it’s daring but at the same time appeals to a wide spectrum of readers, unlike Vogue. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Vogue. I used to sneak into the kitchen when I was 9 years old and steal my Mom’s discarded copies, hiding them in my closet because she thought they were too “worldly” for my virgin eyes to see.  I remember the editorials with Christy, Naomi, Kate, and Linda…and how the fantasy of one day seeing those clothes in real life stirred in me a sort of burning desire and itch to find out all I could about that world.

Although I consider myself a devotee to all things Vogue, I have to say that British Vogue far exceeds the quality of American Vogue in comparison. If you look at the content, it’s definitely aimed at a more DIY crowd and encourages its readers to be creative, frugal in their tastes, and to break out of the box. Whereas American Vogue seems to aim at one demographic, the New York elite, which, to my mind, does not reflect the majority of lovers of fashion. I have always appreciated Vogue and ELLE especially because of their articles and editorials. To me, they are the innovators and communicators of fashion, and the fact that in Vogue’s latest edition there’s an entire feature on the world of fashion bloggers, sends an encouraging and exciting message to the rest of us.  Keep it up, Anna.

Now if only I could read French…

The original Queen of Technicolor: Maureen O’Hara.
I started reading her autobiography, ‘Tis Herself, about a year ago.  It was published in 2004 and really is an interesting read.  I remember watching The Quiet Man as a child, and being entranced by her beauty, talent, and sense of humor.  She was just gorgeous.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010

A very interesting collection from Marc, filled with ladylike and feminine flair.  Evident Edwardian and Georgian-inspired cuts on many of the dresses, as well as belted corset bodices paired with 1950’s style A-line skirts- VERY vintage Francais.  I also appreciated the selection of models in this show, mixing the bombshells with the waifs. And that gown worn by Coco Rocha near the end…good Lord, how beautiful!
